Wealth Opportunities Realized Through Homeownership (WORTH) RVA is a resource hub helping first-time homebuyers in Central Virginia navigate financing, education, and community programs. 

Project Goals

• Centralize homebuyer resources in a single, easy-to-navigate site
• Make the experience accessible, fast, and mobile-first
• Give non-technical staff a friendly, modular authoring experience
• Expose program data to other properties via a lightweight API

Solution Overview

Custom WordPress Theme (Bootstrap)

I built a custom WordPress theme on Bootstrap to ensure consistent, responsive layouts and a scalable design foundation. The theme includes a tokenized style system for colors, spacing, and typography so new sections can be added without rework.

Reusable Components (Gutenberg/Block Editor)

Content editors compose pages from reusable Gutenberg blocks—hero, resource directory, program cards, step-by-step checklists, FAQ, alerts, and callouts. Each block exposes only the necessary controls (copy, media, taxonomy, and CTAs) to keep pages consistent and on-brand while still flexible.

Custom Plugins

To keep the theme clean and future-proof, site-specific logic lives in custom plugins:

• Programs & Partners CPT: Custom post types/taxonomies for programs, eligibility, and service areas, with admin filters and bulk tools.
• Resource Directory: Faceted search (eligibility, location, assistance type) with server-side caching.
• Editorial Toolkit: Reusable patterns, global notices, and role-based block locks to protect layout integrity.

Custom API

A dedicated REST API namespace exposes curated program data (only the fields editors approve), enabling:

• Lightweight JSON feeds for partner sites and microsites
• Client-side filters for fast browsing without page reloads
• Future integration with CRM/marketing tools for lead capture automation

Accessibility & Performance

• WCAG-aligned structure, ARIA labels, and semantic landmarks
• Keyboard-only flows and focus management across interactive blocks
• Optimized images, preloaded critical assets, and trimmed JS for fast FCP/LCP

Editor Experience

• Pattern Library: Pre-built page templates for common stories (program overview, how-to, events).
• Guardrails: Block styles + locked layouts prevent brand drift.
• Training: In-dashboard tips so staff can publish confidently.
